Malta Tax Calculator 2025-2028
Malta Tax Calculator
Calculate income tax using Malta's official tax rates and subtraction method. Family benefits apply until the youngest child reaches 18 (or 23 if in full-time education).
About These Rates
Malta uses the official subtraction method for tax calculation. The formula is: (Income × Rate) - Subtract Amount = Tax Due. This ensures smooth transitions between tax brackets.
Tax rates are based on Malta Budget 2026, which introduced progressive tax reforms for families with children phased in over 2026-2028. These changes aim to reduce the tax burden on parents and married couples with children.
Parent Rates
The parent rates can be claimed by individuals who maintain under their custody a child, or pay maintenance in respect of their child, where such child is less than 18 years of age (or between 18 and 23 years of age if attending full-time education at a university, college, or other educational establishment), irrespective if the child is also gainfully occupied or not.
Married Rates
Subject to certain conditions, the married rates also apply to single parents, widows/widowers, and separated parents.
