New EU-Funded Incentive Schemes for SMEs – Now Open for Application
Three newly launched schemes, co-financed by the European Union and administered by Business First, are now offering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malta an opportunity to receive targeted financial support for strategic growth initiatives. These schemes provide non-repayable grants aimed at boosting competitiveness, facilitating international expansion, and strengthening internal business frameworks.
1. Internationalisation Strategy for SMEs
This scheme supports SMEs in developing a two-part internationalisation plan:
- Part 1: Identifies global business opportunities and assesses market feasibility.
- Part 2: Focuses on country-specific strategies including market entry, sales and marketing planning, and risk mitigation.
Eligible applicants may receive up to €20,000 in funding, co-financing up to 60% of consultancy fees related to strategy development.
2. Marketing Strategy for Micro & Small Enterprises
This grant assists micro and small enterprises in outsourcing the creation of a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with business goals. Areas covered include market positioning, customer segmentation, branding, and promotion planning.
Grants of up to €10,000 are available, covering up to 60% of eligible consultancy costs.
3. Standards & Awards for SMEs
This scheme funds expert advisory services to help SMEs achieve internationally recognised certifications or national excellence awards. It aims to support operational improvements, quality assurance, and alignment with industry best practices.
